16 Feb 2011 presentation of charity cheques

Truro Running Club presenting cheques to The British Heat Foundation and Cornwall Hospice Care

Wednesday evening was a special one this week when the club gathered with Ginny Moses, Regional Support Manager of The British Heart Foundation, Rose Wiltshire, Community Fundraiser of Cornwall Hospice Care and Jeremy Sharp of Charles Stanley sponsors of the Truro Half Marathon. After the 2010 Half Marathon and this year’s New Year’s Day Brown Willy Run the club had made a healthy profit of £1,900, which we decided to donate to charity.  We were very pleased to give £800 to the BHF and £1,100 to Cornwall Hospice Care.  Thanks to all our club members and every one involved in the races, from runners to volunteers, who made these events such a great success!

The BHF is a national charity who’s “vision is a world where people don’t die prematurely from heart disease” and  Cornwall Hospice Care is a local charity “…committed to the delivery of excellence in Specialist Palliative Care across Cornwall”.  Our sponsor, Charles Stanley, is “…one of the most respected UK firms in the field of private client stockbroking, investment management and financial planning” – and Jeremy Sharp is also a member of Truro Running Club!

Photo Opportunity!

TRC Donates to Charity

After last year’s Truro Half Marathon TRC had raised £1,900, which we will donate to charity.  At next week’s Wednesday club night (16th Feb) we’ll be presenting cheques of £800 to the British Heart Foundation and £1,100 to Cornwall Hospice Care.  It would be wonderful if as many members as possible could come along to the presentation at 6.30pm, wearing your TRC vest or hoodie of course!, both to support the charities and for a photo opportunity in the local newspaper!

See you there.

Want to run in the London Marathon?

Get your skates on then!  There’s only 10 weeks to go until the race on 17th April and if you could raise £2,000 for the registered charity Tommy’s, and can let them know by Friday 11th February, they have 5 places to fill as members of their team have had to drop out due to injury.
