Wednesday evening was a special one this week when the club gathered with Ginny Moses, Regional Support Manager of The British Heart Foundation, Rose Wiltshire, Community Fundraiser of Cornwall Hospice Care and Jeremy Sharp of Charles Stanley sponsors of the Truro Half Marathon. After the 2010 Half Marathon and this year’s New Year’s Day Brown Willy Run the club had made a healthy profit of £1,900, which we decided to donate to charity. We were very pleased to give £800 to the BHF and £1,100 to Cornwall Hospice Care. Thanks to all our club members and every one involved in the races, from runners to volunteers, who made these events such a great success!
The BHF is a national charity who’s “vision is a world where people don’t die prematurely from heart disease” and Cornwall Hospice Care is a local charity “…committed to the delivery of excellence in Specialist Palliative Care across Cornwall”. Our sponsor, Charles Stanley, is “…one of the most respected UK firms in the field of private client stockbroking, investment management and financial planning” – and Jeremy Sharp is also a member of Truro Running Club!
