Saturday 20th October 2012, 9.30am*
Join Nick Jeans for a fabulous autumnal run around the designated trails of Goss Moor National Nature Reserve. The reserve has a “rich natural and industrial heritage” on “a unique combination of wetland and heathland”. Check out the Natural England on-line leaflet for more detailed information.
When and Where to Meet
Meet at *9.15am for a prompt 9.30am start at the layby on the Old A30 near Tregoss Crossing (Newquay Branch line) – See Map
Directions
Off A30 signposted Victoria; past BP garage, and straight through Victoria, past Victoria Inn down old A 30 westbound (ignore Roche turnings) under the infamous Iron Bridge; layby with portaloos and parking approximately 1 mile further.
The Routes
There are three variants around one of the largest wetland habitats in the British Isles (and all the bits you don’t see when speeding along the A 30), described as “mostly flat”, they are:
- 3.5 miles (about one mile of moorland bridleway and 2.5 miles of minor roads). This utilises parts of the Tregoss Moor extension on the NE Map – see below.
- 7 miles (including about two miles of minor roads, and 5 miles of trails including old mineral railway). This is the green route on the NE Map.
- 9 miles (as 7 miler but with additional mile of minor road). This includes both the green route and the Tregoss Moor extension on the NE Map.
Refreshments
Short drive. Venue tbc.
